It swallows force — sound, weather, impact. Uncork it into a gourd and the storm goes in; uncork it again and the weather comes back out. Shen Yan names it in the first episode: the Living Breath-Well. The cudgel is green bamboo, and it does what bamboo should not do. It lengthens until it spans a valley, it holds his weight at the tip, and it comes back to his hand in gold light when he calls it. — 🎧 LISTENING NOTES Best with headphones.
