Strengthen your attention with this short guided Mental Focus Practice centered on breath awareness.
This exercise helps you gently train your ability to notice distraction and return your attention to a single point of focus: the natural rhythm, sound, and physical sensation of your breathing.
During the practice, you’ll bring awareness to:
• The rise and fall of your chest or stomach
• The sensation of air moving through your nostrils
• The subtle sound and rhythm of your breath
• Physical sensations associated with each inhale and exhale
• Recognizing when your mind has wandered
• Gently redirecting your attention without judgment
Mental focus is not about preventing thoughts from appearing. It is about noticing when your attention has shifted and practicing the skill of intentionally bringing it back.
Over time, exercises like this can support mindfulness, concentration, present-moment awareness, and greater control over where you place your attention.
Find a comfortable position, allow yourself a few uninterrupted minutes, and simply follow your breath.
This Mental Focus Practice is part of the Meta Excellence® collection of mindset practices designed to strengthen cognitive performance, emotional intelligence, wellbeing, and intentional personal and professional growth.
