Giving birth in Brazil as a foreigner? 🇧🇷 How do you choose a doctor you can trust, plan a safe birth, and obtain a Brazilian passport for your baby? Eddie and Irem questioned everything before welcoming their first child in Florianópolis, Brazil. 🤰 Planning to give birth in Brazil? Speak with our local team: WhatsApp: https://wa.me/5548992179887 Website: https://babyinbrazil.com 🌍 CANADA + TURKEY + SWITZERLAND + PORTUGAL → BRAZIL Eddie is Canadian with Chinese roots and lives in Switzerland. Irem is Turkish and previously lived in Portugal. They married in Denmark, travel with their dog Pancho, and had never visited Brazil before this journey. They explored Portugal, Argentina and São Paulo before choosing Florianópolis. This is their real 45-minute interview: honest questions, first-time-parent concerns, medical research, a vaginal birth, and the journey from hospital to their baby's Brazilian passport. 🇧🇷 WHY THEY CHOSE TO GIVE BIRTH IN BRAZIL Brazilian citizenship by birth was part of the decision, but so was finding medical care they could trust. The couple explain why Florianópolis appealed to them, what worried them about giving birth abroad, and what they wanted from a private maternity hospital. 👨‍⚕️ THEY QUESTIONED THEIR DOCTOR BEFORE SIGNING Before committing, Eddie and Irem spoke directly with Dr. Diego Di Marco Ataides, an OB-GYN and co-founder of Baby in Brazil. They asked about vaginal birth, C-sections, hospital practices, medical necessity and legal transparency. Eddie has a public-health background. He even sent Dr. Diego published medical research, including randomized controlled trials found through PubMed. In the interview, he explains what happened when the doctor engaged with those questions. For this family, access to a real medical and legal team mattered more than sales promises. 🏥 IREM'S REAL BIRTH EXPERIENCE Irem hoped for a vaginal birth when medically appropriate, and she describes having the birth she wanted. She talks about prenatal preparation, physiotherapy and a powerful moment during labor: with her mother far away, someone on the birth team held her hand. She says she did not feel alone. Eddie also shares what helped him prepare for the delivery. 👶 AFTER THE BIRTH: BABY CARE, CPF & PASSPORT Their story continues after the hospital: pediatric support, newborn-care questions, appointments, translation, the Brazilian birth certificate, CPF and passport process. At the time of filming, their baby had received a Brazilian passport; another ID document was still pending. They explain how coordinated paperwork helped reduce unnecessary trips with a newborn. 🤝 WHAT BABY IN BRAZIL HELPS COORDINATE • Prenatal care and OB-GYN consultations • Private hospital and birth planning • Doula and pelvic physiotherapy support • Postpartum care and pediatric appointments • Translation, housing and airport transfers • Birth registration, CPF and passport guidance • Brazilian immigration and legal consultations Our Florianópolis-based team includes Dr. Diego Di Marco Ataides (OB-GYN and co-founder), Eduardo (lawyer) and local healthcare professionals.
