This boat neckline is very easy to make. Draw a straight line just below the original neckline. From the center of the neckline, measure 13 cm forward, then go up 5 cm and draw the new neckline. Extend the shoulder line upward, keeping it parallel to the original shoulder, and draw the new armhole.
Cut along the new neckline, shoulder, and armhole. Sew the shoulders together. Stretch the neckline so that the fabric naturally curls in on itself. Do the same with the armhole—no sewing is necessary. Don’t worry about the neckline coming undone. The fabrics used to make T-shirts do not fray and will stay like this, even after washing.
From the sleeves, cut four 3-cm-wide strips. Stretch them as shown in the video so they curl into tubes, then attach them to the shoulder near the armhole in the shape of bows.
From the remaining sleeve fabric, cut two more 5-cm-wide strips and stretch them in the same way so they curl into tubes. Gather the shoulder, then sew these strips over the gathered area and secure them together underneath. Make sure both shoulders are the same size after gathering.
Decorate the tank top straps with small lace flowers.
Tip: When marking lines on the T-shirt, make sure to use a heat-erasable pen or tailor’s chalk so the marks can be easily removed from the fabric afterward.
Good luck! 🥰
