13 Hollywood Stars With Secrets Hidden in Their Graves

For forty years, a single paragraph in a studio contract decided who these people were allowed to be seen with. What almost nobody talks about is the last decision of all — the one made after the career was over, after the funeral home called the family. Who gets their name carved next to yours. In this video we walk through thirteen graves, from Hollywood Forever to a small Quaker burial ground in Brooklyn to a marker in Santa Monica with two men's names on it and no explanation offered to anybody. Clifton Webb, placed beside his mother. Cesar Romero, beside his sister. Charles Laughton, whose wife of thirty-three years chose the ocean instead. Ramon Novarro, returned to a family plot in East Los Angeles. Orry-Kelly, whose memoir sat in a pillowcase for fifty years before anybody read it. Alla Nazimova, whose companion saved the papers now sitting in the Library of Congress. James Whale, whose suicide note was hidden in a drawer for thirty years by the man who loved him. Gilbert Adrian and Janet Gaynor. Liberace, who sued a newspaper for telling the truth and won. Montgomery Clift, alone behind a fence in Prospect Park. Rock Hudson, who chose the sea. Marlon Brando and Wally Cox, whose ashes were mixed together after thirty-one years in a house. And William Haines, who lost the biggest career in America at thirty-three because he would not give up Jimmie Shields, and who got the one thing almost nobody else on this list got. Everything in this video comes from public record: probate files, cemetery records, court transcripts, coroners' findings, published memoirs and the people's own statements. Where the record is unclear, we say so on camera rather than guessing. If you remember watching these faces on a Sunday afternoon, this channel is for you. We read the documents nobody else bothers to open. Comment below with a name you think belongs on this list, and tell us which cemetery. If the paperwork is there, we will read it.
