Explaining IB: What Makes PYP Special? Primary Years Programme

What makes working and studying in a Primary Years Programme (PYP)* school special? Children are naturally curious about the world around them, and the PYP helps them turn that curiosity into meaningful learning. In the first episode of our Explaining IB: PYP series, Maria Kachmar, PYP Coordinator, shares what she enjoys most about working in a PYP school and what makes this approach to learning special. *What is the PYP? The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme is designed for students aged 3 to 12. It encourages children to ask questions, explore topics that interest them, and study how what they learn connects to everyday life. Children master this by brainstorming ideas, finding answers, and sharing what they discover, while building the knowledge and skills they need for the future. *** Pechersk School International (PSI Kyiv) is a non-profit, international school that was opened in Kyiv in 1995.
