St Gregory’s currently has six bells which are located in the Church Tower, built in the early 1300s. The bells are hung in a cast iron frame which in turn sits on large steel beams, the frame has just been re-painted by John Taylor & Co bell founders from Loughborough. There have been bells at St Gregory’s since the mid 1500s and the oldest bell was cast in 1622, it is also the heaviest bell at 16 CWT (680 kg or 1500 lbs). The tenor bell has a note of D+34c, making the bells in the key of D. The bells were rehung into the present cast iron frame in 1946 by Gillett & Johnson. John Taylor & Co Limited John Taylor & Company | Taylor's has been producing high quality bells in Loughborough since 1839.
