SeaSail is an endless ocean you can sail forever, with procedurally generated islands, built from scratch in C++17 and OpenGL 3.3. No game engine, no math library: just my own renderer, terrain streaming and boat physics. Camera and handling are inspired by Dredge. ▶ Source code: https://github.com/Nimesh2099/SeaSail WHAT'S IN IT Infinite world: islands (volcanic mountains, atolls, sea stacks, sandy cays) come from a deterministic hash of the seed, so nothing is stored and every seed is a new world Terrain streamed on worker threads in 128 m chunks with 6 levels of detail, out to ~4.6 km Floating origin and double-precision noise, so it stays precise thousands of kilometres from the start Gerstner waves on the GPU, with the same waves evaluated on the CPU, so the boat floats on exactly the surface you see Water with depth-based absorption, refraction, sky reflections, shoreline foam and a boat wake Full day/night cycle: sun, moon, stars, drifting clouds, lighthouse beams, boat lamps and a searchlight Instanced trees, rocks and seagulls; lighthouses, jetties and fishing huts HDR rendering, ACES tone mapping, FXAA Live minimap painted on a background thread Developer console and a CPU/GPU profiler overlay. I used the profiler to cut GPU time per frame by about half TECH C++17 · OpenGL 3.3 core · GLFW · glad · CMake · hand-written vector/matrix/quaternion maths #gamedev #cpp #opengl #proceduralgeneration #indiedev
