How can tree growers and smallholder farmers develop practical solutions to the climate challenges affecting their forests, farms and livelihoods? This documentary by TTGAU presents the experiences and results of the Building Resilience with Trees: Climate-Proofing Service Provision by Local Farmer Organisations in Tanzania project, implemented from 2022 to 2026. Through farmer-led research and innovation, members of the Tanzania Tree Growers Associations Union (TTGAU) identified climate risks, tested locally adapted solutions and shared their experiences with fellow farmers and tree growers. The documentary highlights practical work on: • climate resilience planning and farmer-led innovation • agroforestry and sustainable tree-based farming systems • biochar production and application • soil health and soil fertility improvement • tree planting and forest management • climate change adaptation and mitigation • farmer-to-farmer learning and knowledge sharing • participation by women and youth • cooperation between farmers, researchers and development partners The project strengthened farmers' capacity to identify local climate challenges, establish and manage field experiments, generate evidence on promising agroecological practices and apply the results in their own farming and forestry systems. It also enhanced TTGAU's ability to provide climate-responsive and evidence-based services to its members. The project was implemented by Food and Forest Development Finland (FFD), in cooperation with the Tanzania Tree Growers Associations Union (TTGAU), the Njombe Agricultural Development Organization (NADO), and Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). It formed part of the AgriCord-led Farmers' Organisations Leading Research and Innovation on Agroecology for Sustainable Food Systems (FO-RI) programme, with financial support from the European Union and OACPS. #FarmersAsInnovators #FOLedResearch #Agroecology #ClimateResilience #TTGAU #FFD #WeAreAgriCord #Tanzania #Agroforestry #Biochar This video has been produced with the financial assistance of the European Union and OACPS.
