Played during my lunch break today at college. We all know how crappy Wi-Fi connections aren’t easy to deal with when you’re not at home and always on the go. Well, that was me today—but I don’t let it stop me from trying, even if it means having a backup strategy in mind (or having to adapt on the fly).
Playing the way I did still worked at least once and brought us close the second time. Playing passive and reading your teammates is key when you're compromised with unpredictable spikes. Reading what you can see between screen freezes caused by server sync delays is the best you can do—because while those freezes leave you incapable of doing anything, as soon as you regain control, you have to shift to an attrition approach and let the game decide who takes the lead over time. Just make sure you sway it in your favor and let it run as smoothly as possible.
If you lose, always use the recap as a baseline to look at what you did rather than stressing over what you "could have done better." Latency is hard and out of your control, but you can use those recap moments to build map formations in your head to reach spots quicker—even when spikes are unpredictable. And if you're on an objective, make sure you aren't alone. Hopefully, your teammates are reading you as much as you're reading them so you can retain as much map control as possible if you drop unexpectedly to a lag spike.
But as always, remember: no difference is what defines us.
And I will see you on the battlefield. Thank you so much for watching!
