Lately my Case backhoe has been running cold and never heating up, no matter how many hours I run it for. That could only mean one thing, a simple little device called a thermostat is responsible for keeping the engine at the proper operating temperature. Not too hot, not too cold, just right. Today I will show you what a thermostat is, what it does, and how to test it, along with how to change one on a Case 580CK backhoe with a 188D diesel engine.
