The collection translates these principles into fashion by transforming two-dimensional Cubist compositions into tactile, three-dimensional textile surfaces. The key technique is rug hooking, traditionally associated with handcrafted home textiles. Here, the technique is reinterpreted as a fashion embellishment, with wool yarn hand-hooked onto denim to create raised geometric patterns and textural depth. The contrast between the structured denim base and soft, dimensional wool creates a distinctive surface language inspired by Cubist artwork. Creating neat and consistent rug-hooked textures on thick denim fabric required considerable time, patience and precision. The selection of colours and placement of each artwork also required careful planning to ensure that the textured surfaces complemented the garments without overpowering the silhouettes.
