Moroccan Aïta Jabalia 78 rpm | محمد جعيبة السلاوي – عيطة جبلية

Title: عيطة جبلية = Aita Jabalia Artist: محمد جعيبة السلاوي = Mohamed Zihba Slaoui (a more current rendering in English might be Mohammed Jaiba Al-Sahlawi) Sadly, I have been unable to find any information about this specific artist, but the title means something like 'mountain lament' and is indicative of a form of traditional folk music, referred to as Aïta Jabalia. This folk tradition is the heritage of the Jebala people, inhabitants of the mountainous Jebala region of northwestern Morocco (including places such as Chefchaouen, Tetouan, Taounate, and the western Rif region).
