"There is a town in Montana Territory where it's against the law to carry a gun." In this week's episode, J.B. Kendell introduces us to a fictitious Montana town, South Sunday. South Sunday is modeled after Miles City, Montana. The lawlessness of the area is quite accurate. Sunday Creek was the northern terminus of the Outlaw Trail, with the rugged coulees, badlands, and dense brush in the basin providing ideal cover to hide stolen livestock. The SundaCreek corridor was ideal for moving stolen cattle north to Canada and south to Wyoming. It was plagued with highly organized, multi-brother, and heavily armed syndicates, just such a place where the Shelton Brothers would feel safe from being shot in the back, but could still keep an eye on the business at hand. Frontier Gentleman: The Shelton Brothers (February 2, 1958) includes: John Dehner — J.B. Kendall; Barney Phillips — Sheriff Frank Clanton Harry Bartell — Monroe Shelton Stacy Harris — Dake FarleyJack Kruschen — Matt Roper / Express Office Clerk; Virginia Gregg — Lila Johnny Jacobs — Episode Announcer Don't forget to stop by our blog: susanfloerchinger.com to read more about Sunday Creek and the role it played in American History.
