The Bible warns against loving “the world” when that means pursuing selfishness, greed, pride, or desires that pull us away from God (1 John 2:15–17). Pleasures are temporary, but a life rooted in God offers lasting purpose. As Jesus taught, we should not let possessions or worldly gain become the center of our lives (Matthew 6:19–21). So Christians are called not to reject every good thing, but to enjoy God’s gifts with wisdom, gratitude, self-control, and compassion. Ask yourself: Is this drawing me closer to God, or taking His place? Enjoy what is good—but let God, not pleasure, be your greatest joy.
