This breaking news of organized crime follows recent allegations of rigging and corruption concerning Miss Universe 2025 winner Fátima Bosch who won the title of queen at the beauty pageant in Bangkok, Thailand. In an industry that shows luxury, high fashion, beauty, and glamour, controversy, scandal, and true crime have taken front stage. Reforma news published that Raul was charged by the Attorney General's Office, also known as “FGR”, for trafficking between Guatemala, Mexico, and the United States of America through a network of business fronts, with him investing millions of pesos as the alleged ringleader to finance this scheme with the help of politicians, police officers, government officials, and former SEDENA (the Mexican Secretariat of National Defense) members (Mexican Army and Air Forces). He smuggled fuel from Guatemala across the river with boats and supplied weapons with trucks to the Gulf Cartel and the Grupo Sombra of Veracruz, avoiding paying the tariff and customs control, using energy company fronts to cover the fuel theft and evade tax. The illegal arms were reregistered using official records to create fabricated documents, and this documentation allowed them to circulate as if they were legal. A network of private security companies were used to acquire and transport the weaponry. Investigators raided property, finding a hard drive with evidence of bank account numbers where the money profits of this criminal enterprise were deposited and a stock purchase agreement, tying Raul to the crimes. Intercepted telephone calls also counted as proof of the crime. Raul asked FEMDO (Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Organized Crime division) for a plea bargain so with the plea deal he could become a collaborating protected witness to the investigation due to the federal government putting out a warrant for his arrest. Then he went to the Miss Universe finale where the crown was awarded as if everything was fine.
