APTUF Siang District Holds Peaceful Rally Over Unpaid PHED Wages, Warns of Escalation
Boleng, Siang District | 4th May 2026 — A peaceful rally was organized by the Arunachal Pradesh Trade Union Federation (APTUF), Siang District Unit, highlighting serious concerns over unpaid wages of workers under the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).
During the rally, APTUF raised the issue that many workers have not received their salaries since February 2026. The prolonged delay has created significant financial stress for the laborers and their families, affecting their day-to-day survival.
The union strongly demanded the immediate release of all pending wages before 11th May 2026. They stated that if the concerned department fails to act within the given deadline, they will be forced to escalate the protest.
APTUF further announced that if no concrete assurance or payment is made before the deadline, the next course of action will include tools down strike, hunger strike starting from 11th May 2026, and even suspension of water supply across the district as a mark of protest.
The rally concluded with a clear message from APTUF urging the authorities to address the issue urgently and prevent further disruption.
