The Lone Wanderer’s death at the end of Fallout 3 was shocking and for many players heart-wrenching. Video games, especially narrative-driven games like RPGs, rarely end with the player’s death. Unfortunately for Bethesda, the fan reaction was not universally receptive. It also went against Bethesda’s precedent at the time: you could keep playing Morrowind and Oblivion after the end of the main quest, so why does Fallout 3 have to kill you? Broken Steel came along on May 5, 2009 with the goal of rectifying all that and opening up the post-game. What follows is a middling five-hour experience that takes the ending of Fallout 3 main quest and just extends it without anything new to say. If anything, it seems like the only thing broken was Bethesda’s creative will. Rebuild the Capital: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mo...
