Subaru WRX STI Drifting on Ice - Rallyist Laps Ep.5

Ooooh boy is this just the best way to drive a Subaru!! For episode 5 of Rallyist Laps, I'm driving my friend Ben's 2005 Subaru WRX STI with bolted street tires on a frozen lake with a maintained course. White car, snow-covered lake, and blue sky! What a perfect day! This was shot in the late spring of 2019. The lakes are frozen yet, but it's almost that time of year again, so hopefully you're all as excited as I am! I drove a few cars on the ice last year, and this one was by far the fastest. Combining STI power and driveline with the grippy bolted tires, means you get cookin' on ice! On this short course, we were seeing speeds close to 70mph! This was definitely the most fun I've had in a car in a while. It's just so unlike anything else to combine the grip, power and change of direction from an AWD car, and place it on the smoothest and slipperiest surface. This is the rally driving equivalent to powder skiing. The ice is exactly where a Subaru performs the best and belongs!
