Leaving Siliguri behind, I set out on my third day of this solo North Bengal journey, riding my scooty towards the mountains. The ride took me through the beautiful forests of Sevoke Road, tea gardens, rivers, bridges, and finally the winding mountain roads beyond Gorubathan. With the sun shining and the temperature dropping as I climbed higher, the journey to Lava became one of those simple experiences that make you fall in love with the road. My destination was the Lava Eco Tourism Centre, a peaceful retreat surrounded by tall pine trees and wooden cottages. With hardly anyone around, I spent the afternoon wandering through the resort, enjoying the silence, capturing little moments of nature, and simply being present. Later, I walked through the quiet streets of Lava town, stopped for some Maggi and a cup of tea, and returned to the forest as evening settled in. Then came a power cut, and the entire place went dark. Sitting in a cottage surrounded by a silent pine forest was an unusual, slightly haunting, yet beautiful experience—one that made this day different from an ordinary journey. This episode is about the roads, the mountains, the solitude, and the little moments that make travelling meaningful to me. 📍 Route: Siliguri → Sevoke Road → Gorubathan → Lava 🏡 Stay: Lava Eco Tourism Centre, Lava, West Bengal 🛵 Ride: Honda Activa 125 | Solo North Bengal Journey If you enjoy peaceful road journeys, mountain roads, forest stays, and honest travel diaries, I hope you enjoy coming along with me.
