What does it really mean to serve in the Indian Army?
In this Independence Day Special, we sit down with Capt. Yashika Tyagi, a Kargil War veteran and the 77th Lady officer in the Indian Army, for an honest and deeply personal conversation about military life, courage, motherhood, sacrifice, leadership and the realities of serving the nation.
From the intense realities of Army training to serving during the Kargil War, Capt. Yashika Tyagi shares experiences that go far beyond the image of a soldier in uniform.
We talk about what it takes to become an Indian Army officer, her pregnancy journey during the Kargil war, the fear and pressure that comes with military service, and the lessons that stay with you long after leaving the uniform.
But this conversation also explores the side of military life that we rarely hear about — being a woman in the Army, commanding in a traditionally male-dominated environment, balancing motherhood with duty, and the personal sacrifices that come with serving the country.
Capt. Yashika also opens up about the difficult choices between family and duty, missing parts of her son's childhood, and what it means to continue serving when personal life demands your presence too.
