I decided to try something completely new: watercolor painting. I'm about 80 days into drawing every day, but almost all of that has been pen, pencil, and paper. I've always considered myself artistic, but I've never really considered myself an artist. Other than one college painting class way back in 1994, I haven't done much painting at all. So I bought a small watercolor set, some inexpensive watercolor paper, a few brushes, and decided to see what happened. This is not a watercolor tutorial. I'm a complete beginner. I'm sharing my first attempts, what I spent to get started, the supplies I chose, and some of the things I've learned about watercolor painting along the way. I learned that watercolor behaves very differently from what I'm used to. You can't really erase it, the paint keeps changing as it dries, water and pigment have a mind of their own, and apparently you're not supposed to paint vertically unless you enjoy watching your painting slowly run down the page. Some of these paintings worked better than others. Some I really like. And some… well, they're part of the learning process. I'm going to keep drawing every day and add some watercolor painting along the way. I'm curious to see whether all those daily sketches eventually make me a better painter—or just someone with a lot of questionable paintings. Thanks for watching! #Watercolor #WatercolorPainting #BeginnerWatercolor #WatercolorForBeginners #LearningToPaint #PaintingForBeginners #DrewDrawsEveryDay #Sketchbook #DrawingEveryDay #RetirementLife
