How do we hear sound, and how can clinicians evaluate the integrity of the auditory pathway? This 3D medical animation provides a visual explanation of the hearing process, illustrating how sound waves travel through the ear and are ultimately interpreted by the brain. The animation demonstrates the function of the eardrum, middle-ear ossicles, cochlea, sensory hair cells, and auditory nerve in transforming sound vibrations into meaningful auditory perception. The video also explains the Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) test, an objective electrophysiological assessment used to evaluate neural transmission along the auditory pathway. During the test, sound stimuli are delivered through earphones while surface electrodes record the electrical activity generated by the auditory nerve and brainstem. A special focus is placed on the role of ABR in the detection of acoustic neuroma (vestibular schwannoma), a benign tumor that develops on the auditory nerve. Because these tumors can affect neural conduction, ABR testing may reveal characteristic delays in the recorded responses, providing important diagnostic information. This demonstration was performed using the Neuro-Audio system developed by Neurosoft. 3D Medical Animation Designed and Produced by: Dr. Masoud Bolandi, PhD Keywords: ABR, Auditory Brainstem Response, Acoustic Neuroma, Vestibular Schwannoma, Hearing Test, Audiology, Auditory Pathway, Neurosoft, Neuro-Audio, Cochlea, Auditory Nerve, Brainstem, Hearing Science, Medical Education, 3D Medical Animation
