Mike Reed plays "Blue Bayou" on his 1974 Hammond Grandee Organ

"Blue Bayou" is a song written by Roy Orbison and Joe Melson, originally sung by Orbison, recorded at the end of 1961. It later became Linda Ronstadt's signature song. Down on beautiful St. Petersburg Beach, Florida, this was a very popular song for me. I was playing at the Red Cavalier, on a little bayou at Redington Shores, and it just seemed right that a lovely young lady, Sue Riley, used to come in and sing it with me, and the audience loved it! Sometimes in the Winter I miss those tropical days and nights on the beach. Yes, "Life is Good" down on the Bayou, across from the Gulf of Mexico, when you get to play your Hammond Organ to make the tourists smile! I can feel the warmth right now, February 13th, 2019.
