£100, Rethymnon & Richard's Road Rage *⚠️ SWEARING WARNING — Richard gets rather colourful with his language. Lindsay remains completely innocent throughout.* Today we decided to explore Rethymnon by motorbike, which seemed like a brilliant idea when we set off. The weather was gorgeous, the sun was shining and the scenery was absolutely stunning. We were both really looking forward to seeing more of Crete from the back of a motorbike. It didn't take long, however, for Richard to discover that the roads were not quite as peaceful as he'd hoped. A motorbike pulled out in front of us and Richard immediately launched into a full-scale commentary, complete with several very strong words that probably aren't necessary in a family travel vlog. I just sat there filming, quietly enjoying the scenery while Richard appeared to be personally offended by every vehicle on the road. Someone overtook us. Richard swore. At one point I genuinely wondered whether we'd come to Rethymnon to see the sights or whether Richard had simply come here to argue with Greek traffic. In amongst all the road rage, we were having a fantastic time. Riding around Rethymnon gave us some amazing views, and there was something really special about being out in the sunshine with the mountains and coastline around us. Then came the £100 bet. Richard noticed the camera and asked whether I'd remembered to take the lens cap off. I told him I had. He wasn't convinced. Richard decided to put his money where his mouth was and bet me £100 that I'd left the lens cap on. Naturally, I accepted. For the rest of the ride, Richard kept reminding me about it. Every now and then he'd ask if I was still confident, and every time I told him I was. I was so confident that I didn't even bother checking. That probably made Richard even more convinced that I had made a terrible mistake. Eventually we finished our motorbike adventure and it was time to settle the bet. We checked the camera. There was a brief moment of silence. The lens cap was off. I had won. £100. Richard had absolutely no choice but to accept defeat. So that's how our motorbike adventure around Rethymnon ended. The evening was spent back at the hotel where we enjoyed a traditional Crete night, with Greek dancing and drinks! Yes, they did a bit of Zorba the Greek dancing of course!!
