🚡 WINGS OF TATEV | Riding the World's Longest Cable Car | Armenia Soaring 320 meters above the dramatic Vorotan Gorge, Wings of Tatev is one of Armenia's most spectacular experiences and a genuine Guinness World Record holder. This video captures the complete round-trip journey: 5,752 meters each way, gliding high above canyons, rivers and hidden landmarks, all the way to the legendary Tatev Monastery and back. 🎒 About Wings of Tatev: Opened on 16 October 2010, Wings of Tatev stretches 5,752 meters and holds the Guinness World Record for the longest non-stop double-track reversible cable car in the world. Remarkably, this entire engineering feat — connecting the village of Halidzor to the 9th-century Tatev Monastery — was built in just 10 months by the Austrian-Swiss company Doppelmayr/Garaventa. The crossing descends 320 meters into the Vorotan Gorge and typically takes between 11 and 15 minutes depending on wind conditions. Since opening, it has carried over 1.3 million passengers, and today roughly one in every five tourists visiting Armenia comes specifically to experience Tatev because of it. The project was privately funded as part of the "Tatev Revival" initiative, with all proceeds going toward restoring the ancient monastery and supporting the local community — meaning every ride directly helps preserve this remarkable piece of Armenian heritage. 📍 HIGHLIGHTS IN THIS VIDEO: 00:00 – 🚡 Departure from Halidzor — Boarding the cable car on a perfectly sunny day, with medieval music and audio-guide commentary playing softly in the background as the ground begins to drop away. 00:00 – 14:46 – 🏔️ The Ascent — A breathtaking 15-minute glide high above the Vorotan Gorge, with sweeping views over the Tatev-Goris region's landmarks unfolding below. 14:46 – ⛰️ Arrival at Tatev Monastery — Reaching the upper station after crossing one of the most dramatic canyon landscapes in the Caucasus. 14:46 – 25:23 – 🚡 The Descent — The return journey back to Halidzor, offering the same spectacular views from a completely different perspective as the sun continues to shine.
