🙏 What the world calls success, Jesus sees differently. In the Gospel, Jesus makes a startling declaration: “Blessed are you who are poor… Blessed are you who are hungry… Blessed are you who weep…” And then He gives a serious warning: “Woe to you who are rich… Woe to you who are full…” What does Jesus really mean? Is Jesus saying that poverty is automatically holiness or that having wealth is automatically sinful? Or is He inviting us to examine where we place our trust, what we value, and what has possession of our hearts? This Catholic homily takes us deeper into the meaning of the Beatitudes and the Woes. Jesus calls us to a life of: 🌿 Humility instead of pride 🙏 Dependence on God instead of self-sufficiency ❤️ Meekness instead of domination 🤲 Generosity instead of selfishness ✝️ Service instead of seeking recognition ☁️ Heavenly values instead of becoming trapped by worldly values The Gospel challenges us to look beyond temporary wealth, comfort, popularity and success. What we possess will eventually pass away. What we become before God is what truly matters. Jesus invites us to lift our eyes toward heavenly things and discover that true blessedness is not found simply in having more, but in living a life rooted in God and poured out in service of others. The question for each of us is: What has become the greatest treasure of my life? Am I accumulating for myself—or becoming a blessing to others? Am I seeking worldly success—or striving for the Kingdom of God?
