You know you’re going to die. But how often do you actually live as if you know it?
In this episode of the Existential Stoic Podcast, Danny & Randy confront one of the most uncomfortable facts of human existence: our lives will end. Rather than treating mortality as something morbid to avoid, we explore what happens when we bring death into our awareness and allow it to change how we live.
From the Stoic practice of memento mori to existential philosophy, humans have long contemplated death as a way of understanding life. If your time is genuinely limited, what deserves it? Which worries suddenly seem trivial? Which relationships become more important? And how much of your life are you postponing for a future you assume will arrive?
We explore death anxiety, fear of dying, mortality, regret, meaning, acceptance, and the strange possibility that remembering death can make us more alive. Accepting mortality doesn't mean becoming obsessed with death. It means recognizing the extraordinary value of an ordinary day precisely because there will eventually be a last one.
You cannot choose whether your life ends. But while you're here, you still have some say in how you spend the time between now and then.
