A teacher plans and writes a Band 9 IELTS Writing Task 2 essay for a "problem and solution" question, one paragraph at a time. The question: in many cities, meals are now delivered by riders on motorbikes and bicycles, and many of them ride fast and take risks in traffic to deliver orders quickly. What problems does this cause, and what can be done to solve them? Learn why a list of problems and a list of solutions costs marks, how to match every solution to a problem and say who should act, why "The government should solve this problem" is too vague, and how a Band 9 introduction answers both parts instead of announcing them. How to practise with this video 1. Pause after the question and plan your four paragraphs in five minutes: each problem with its cause, and a solution that fits it. 2. Check your plan: does every solution answer a problem you named, and does it say who acts? 3. Take three of the five phrases and use them in your next essay. 4. Write your own answer in 40 minutes, then check it with the four questions at the end.
