Our wizard found one final spell, but its price was his true name, his soul, and every path that could ever bring him back. This is the saddest chapter in Greg and Ruby’s story. A song about sacrifice, friendship, and the empty place left behind when someone saves everyone except himself. No grave. No body. No name left to call. Only the shield still shining above them. #dnd #dndmusic #fantasy #fantasymusic #celticmusic Lyrics: [Verse 1] The morning cracked without a sound, then color left the sky. The rivers stopped, the fields went gray, and birds forgot to fly. A wave of empty magic crossed the valley, cold and slow. It took the leaves from every tree and life from all below. The cleric prayed until his voice was torn and nearly gone. Ruby spread her wings above the road to shield the frightened town. The wizard watched one flower fade beneath his shaking hand. Then found the spell no living soul had ever dared to cast. [Pre-Chorus] The page said every life could stay. It only asked one name as pay. [Chorus] No name left to call, no soul left to raise. He gave the world tomorrow, then he vanished from its page. No grave beneath the willow, no spirit in the hall. The shield still holds above us, but there's no name left to call. [Verse 2] Greg caught him by the sleeve and said, "We'll find another way." The fighter stood across the door. The cleric begged him, "Wait." Ruby said, "My fire is yours. Take every flame I own." The wizard shook his head and said, "Your children need you home." His queen came through a gate of bone with death behind her eyes. "I have pulled kings out of their graves. You do not get to die." He touched her face and answered, "Love, this spell won't leave a grave. If you could call me back from this, then no one here is saved." [Chorus] No name left to call, no soul left to raise. He gave the world tomorrow, then he vanished from its page. No grave beneath the willow, no spirit in the hall. The shield still holds above us, but there's no name left to call. [Verse 3] He walked into the open field and set his old staff down. The dying deer looked up at him. The last leaves touched the ground. He spoke the name he never shared, the first word that was his. The mountains learned it for a breath. The dark began to split. That name became a line of gold that ran from shore to shore. It covered nests and city streets, the rich, the sick, the poor. The rivers moved. The horses rose. The forest breathed again. And every book that named the mage went blank before the end. [Bridge] [Music drops to piano and low strings] The queen reached through the light for him. Her hand came back alone. Greg tried to say the wizard's name. He knew it once. Now it was gone. [Chorus] No name left to call, no soul left to raise. He gave the world tomorrow, then he vanished from its page. No grave beneath the willow, no spirit in the hall. The shield still holds above us, but there's no name left to call. [Verse 4] The taverns filled by evening. Every road was loud with feet. The wolves returned to hunting, and the children ran the streets. No stranger knew what bought the breath that moved inside their chest. They only saw the golden light and called the sunrise blessed. His queen went back beneath the earth and searched each shelf in vain. The cleric asked a hundred gods. Not one could find his name. But Greg wrote down, "Our wizard lived. He chose what we became." Then left an empty line below where he once signed his name. [Final Chorus] No name left to call, no soul left to raise. He gave us every morning, though he vanished from the page. No grave beneath the willow, still we gather in the hall. The shield still holds above us, and we know who saved us all. [Outro] When leaves move without any wind And gold runs through the rain, We do not try to call him back. We thank him just the same.
