Nusa Penida Diving — Currents and Bountiful corals

Two dives off the north coast of Nusa Penida, the larger of the three islands in the Badung Strait south-east of Bali. The strait funnels cold, nutrient-rich water up from the Indian Ocean, which is what feeds these fish-packed healthy reefs and what makes the currents here so serious — the same flow that brings the mola mola and the mantas also makes every dive a drift. Conditions were honest rather than easy. The first dive was made in rough sea; the second ran in a very strong current, with no time to frame a shot and one hand busy keeping the family group together. This is a record of the day rather than a showreel, and I would rather have the memory than the perfect footage. Filmed as a family — some of the wider shots here are my wife's, from a second 360 camera. Especially the second dive almost felt like an underwater roller coaster at times, but with a better view than on any other...
