What does it look like to follow Jesus when you and your spouse aren’t on the same page? In Different Relationships — Part 1, Pastor Kendall continues our DIFFERENT series through 1 Peter with a practical look at 1 Peter 3:1–7 and what it teaches us about marriage, relationships, and following Jesus when we disagree. Peter was writing to husbands and wives who weren’t even on the same page about Jesus. But his words raise a question every marriage eventually faces: How do I follow Jesus when the person closest to me and I aren’t on the same page? Following Jesus should be best seen in the relationship where I am best known. In Part 1, we discover that Jesus can use my marriage to CHALLENGE ME. When we disagree, our natural tendency is to focus on what the other person is doing wrong or what they need to change. But Peter turns the question around: What is Jesus asking of me? Marriage is discipleship up close. Jesus can use the person who knows us best to expose the places where we still need to become more like Him.
