The term manāʾiḥ refers to milch animals, be they camels, sheep or goats, that are lent by their owner to another person who can milk them and use their milk for a term, usually until these animals cease to give milk. In this case the animals left with the Prophet (صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) were goats.
