Behind the Story: Crafting YA Christian Fantasy with Rachel Trautmiller

Behind the Story: Crafting YA Christian Fantasy with Rachel Trautmiller. In this episode of Between the Lines of Christian Fiction, I sit down with YA author Rachel Trautmiller to explore the heart and process behind her fantasy novel, The Fracture Within. We dive into what it takes to write compelling young adult fantasy through a Christian lens, how faith shapes storytelling, and the creative journey from first idea to finished manuscript. Rachel shares insights into building a world where the supernatural intersects with real-life struggles, and how her characters wrestle with identity, truth, and what it means to see beyond the surface. Perfect for readers, writers, and anyone who loves faith-filled stories with a touch of mystery and imagination, this conversation will inspire you to look deeper—both on the page and in your own creative calling. For a sneak peek at The Fracture Within, here is the back cover copy: Charlotte Wyatt’s life is perfect. She’s a freshman in college on a soccer scholarship, surrounded by close friends she’s known since kindergarten, and supported by a family whose faith runs deep. Her world is soccer and art, fun and friends. Until a freak accident changes everything. When a bus slams into her, Charlotte doesn’t wake up at the pearly gates or in a hospital bed broken and paralyzed. She wakes up alive and unharmed, but different, and with no memory of the crash. Now she sees things no one else can. The people around her appear fractured—part the way they’ve always been, part strange and unexplainable. And the visions are only growing stronger. Has she gone crazy? Or is there something seriously wrong with her mind? Charlotte must navigate a terrifying new reality. But how? And what does it mean? Perfect for fans of YA Christian fiction and supernatural suspense, this gripping novel weaves together faith, friendship, and the search for meaning. #RachelTrautmiller #TheFractureWithin #ChristianFiction #YAFantasy #ChristianYA #AuthorInterview #WritingProcess #FaithBasedFiction #ChristianAuthors #BookPodcast #FantasyWriters #WritersLife #TeenFiction #InspirationalStories #FaithAndFiction
