Bicycling the Gitchi Gami State Trail in Tofte/Lutsen (June 8, 2021)

With temperatures in the mid 90's and humid, we decided to head to the North Shore of Lake Superior for 5 days and do some hiking and biking from a base in Tofte MN. During the evening we had strong rain so we decided that it would be a good day to bicycle the Gitchi Gami State Trail that is a separate bike path in the Lofte and Lutsen area. This is a very nice trail with views of Lake Superior and forests plus going through the Temperance River State Park. The section from Tofte to Lutsen has rolling hills and is pretty manageable for most bikers. The section south of Tofte past the Temperance River to highway 61 has more hills. You can continue south about a quarter of a mile to the Cross River which is worth a view and there is a sidewalk so you don't have to be on the highway. A very nice 24 mile round trip bicycle ride. If you are headed to the North Shore of Lake Superior bring your bikes so you can enjoy it.
