Through memories of his visit to Deir al-Suryan and Fr. Bishoy Kamel’s life of prayer, he explains the Fathers’ counsel: “Go into your cell, and it will teach you.” He calls us to make an honest beginning: set aside time for prayer and solitude, examine ourselves truthfully in Confession, and pray the Psalms with sincerity and depth. He shows how growth in the inner person sanctifies our feelings and senses.
