It took WAY too long, but at last, Sunday Night Lights ReTelling 2002 is finally here! And with a returning character as the main protagonist for the Cup side.
Naturally, we have to explain all the changes from SNLReTe 2001, as well as the changes done from the main source, so... Let's check them out:
Brynn Kourting is now racing for Morgan-McClure Motorsports, due to the closure of Melling Racing (they weren't able to find a new sponsor).
Jimmie Johnson makes his debut for RCR like in the OG SNL, but he races for the #20 car instead of the #30. Rob Moroso decided to become his crew chief (as Chad Knaus is already involved with Lydia).
Rei Hisako debuts in the Winston Cup Series in the #1 BDR Ford, replacing IndyCar-bound Shawn He. At the same time, Noel Voight also left the series to race in the British Touring Car Championship, meaning the SABCO #47 is not a full-time car, anymore.
Nathan Burrows left Valerian Racing Engines, as well as the Winston Cup, due to disagreements with Valerian co-owners Kurumi Hoejima (Nathan's girlfriend) and François Renais (Lilian's dad). Valerian thus scales down to just two cars.
April Porter and Ryan Trevino make their debuts for Jasper Motorsports and Chip Ganassi Racing, replacing Rick Mast and Katja Waldegren respectively (Katja returned to Germany to race in the reformed DTM.)
Summer Henson steps down from the #10 MB2 Motorsports Pontiac, being replaced by Bobby Hamilton.
Marianne Taylor, as shown at the 2001 International All-Star Race, moves to the #5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, taking the seat from a retiring Davey Allison. As a result, the #46 car is retired.
Everything else has roughly been kept the same as it was at the end of the 2001 season.
As for the usual disclaimers, JDS's portrait (and every single portrait you will see in the thumbnails) are AI-generated. Everything else, from the video, to the paint schemes, to the production, has been made by either me or GraySpeed and his team, who are all humans. No AI voice has been featured, and will NEVER be featured, even as a joke.
That said... Enjoy the show!
