The Domica Cave is located on the south-western edge of the Silica Plateau, in the Slovak Karst region. Its entrance lies at the southern foot of the Devil's Hole Cave, 339 m above sea level. It forms the upper part of the Baradla-Domica cave system, which is more than 25 km long and extends under two countries, Slovakia and Hungary.
The underground passage on the Slovak side of the border is more than 5300 m long. Protected as a National Natural Monument, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1995 as part of the Slovak-Hungarian bilateral project "Caves of the Slovak Karst and Aggtelek Karst", thanks to its exceptional natural values.
