Here's part 2 of the Collins Axe restoration! I figured out why the piece I cut out of the handle was falling apart and why the handle was duct taped when I got it. The handle had a big split near the head, probably from the wedges and the way the grain is oriented. I really enjoyed working on this axe and am excited to work on more! Right now I have two mauls, three hatchets, another splitting axe, and a double bit that needs to be hung. Plus I have that Pulaski axe that just needs some cleaning up and maybe some new wedges.
