I'm riding my **Royal Enfield Bear 650**, while Del is aboard his **Royal Enfield Himalayan 450**. Our journey begins in Cantoria, where I meet Del enjoying a rather sneaky coffee before we hit the road and head towards the mountains. Along the way, we pass the fascinating **Almería Solar Platform (Plataforma Solar de Almería)**, one of the world's important solar energy research facilities. I give a brief explanation of what goes on there, and I'll include a link to the facility in the YouTube comments for anyone who wants to find out more. The weather is a little cooler than we've been used to lately, but conditions are still pretty good for a ride through the stunning landscapes of Almería. We wind our way through the countryside towards the mountain village of Velefique, where Part 1 comes to an end. But this is only the beginning! Velefique is famous among motorcyclists for its spectacular hairpins, sweeping bends and challenging mountain road, often compared to the legendary Stelvio Pass.
