Frugal skincare products that work, and that are also good for the budget. I have included two homemade skincare concoctions that are really effective - recipies below. I also talk about two very expensive procedures: jump to the 9 minute mark if you want to skip this bit. IPL (intense pulsed light) and BBL (broad band light) that I have invested in over the years which have given me a good(ish) structure to work with. While definitely not budget friendly, these have been treatments that worked for me and where the benefits have been long lasting (years). I feel I got value from them even though they were not cheap! The IPL treatments were in Skindeep Medispa in Perth Western Australia and the BBL treatments were in Pulse Light Clinic in London. The Skin and hair oil mix that I use: Leaves hair soft and skin smooth and hydrated. Store in a jar or bottle. Two tbs Castor oil - 30ml Four tbs Sweet almond oil - 60ml Four tbs Jojoba oil - 60ml Four tbs Evening primrose oil (optional) - 60ml If using in hair, shampoo twice and follow up with a good conditioner. The oils were purchased from MysticMomentsUK.com The face and body scrub/mask: This will gently slough off dead skin . Two tbs live yoghurt (lactic acid) One tbs sugar (glycolic acid) One or two tsp ground or instant coffee, must have caffeine Mix well and dissolve the sugar before applying to face and body. Leave on for 10-20 minutes before washing off. Key: Tbs = tablespoons = 15ml Dsp = dessert spoon = 10ml Tsp = teaspoons = 5ml
