Camping Above the Clouds in Japan | Campfire Pizza & Namerō Rice Bowl

We went camping at Bokyo no Mori Campground, located in the forests of Mt. Kasagi in Ena, Gifu. Before heading to the campsite, we stopped at Ena Gin no Mori and bought a summer-edition cookie tin and some tea. From our campsite, nearly 1,000 meters above sea level, we enjoyed beautiful layers of mountain ridges. We cooked pizza over the campfire—and the next morning, we woke up to a breathtaking sea of clouds. For breakfast, we made namerō with horse mackerel we had caught, along with a ponzu octopus dish. We enjoyed our rice bowls outside while overlooking the clouds. No talking—just the peaceful sounds of nature, camp cooking, and a quiet summer morning in the mountains of Japan.
