Sixteen years later, Commander Shepard’s journey continues. After everything we experienced in the original Mass Effect, it’s finally time to begin Mass Effect 2. I remember pieces of this game—characters, locations, certain moments—but sixteen years is a LONG time. Remembering fragments of a journey and actually experiencing that journey again are two completely different things. And Mass Effect 2 wastes absolutely NO time making that clear. Commander Shepard died. After everything we survived—the Geth, Saren, Sovereign, and the Battle for the Citadel—our journey seemingly ended before it could even begin again. But against all odds, Shepard has been brought back. The galaxy didn't stop while we were gone. Time has passed, things have changed, and our old crew has gone their separate ways. Now human colonies are disappearing, something dangerous is operating in the shadows, and Shepard is being thrown into a situation where we're not entirely sure who we can trust. So we're starting over. New allies. New enemies. A new mission. And eventually, we're going to need ourselves one hell of a crew. I'm not rushing any of this. Just like the first Mass Effect, we're exploring, talking to people, digging into the story, taking on side missions, making decisions, making mistakes, and letting this journey unfold naturally.
