CULTURAL LEADERS UNITE TO ADVANCE ADOLESCENT HEALTH IN KILIFI

Kaya elders from Kauma came together to validate the Kilifi Age-Appropriate Sexuality Education Guide, contributing cultural perspectives that will strengthen community ownership and support for adolescent health and wellbeing. The dialogue explored practical solutions to challenges affecting young people, including early pregnancy, HIV, poverty, and gender-based violence, while highlighting the important role of cultural institutions in promoting positive social norms and safeguarding adolescents. This engagement forms part of the collaborative process to develop a culturally responsive, evidence-informed guide that reflects community values and supports the health, dignity, and wellbeing of children and adolescents across Kilifi County.
