Hello! New updated mixes of some of my CHARLIE covers from last year coupled with their instrumentals are OUT NOW on YouTube and SoundCloud respectively! They include: Light Switch, Left and Right and Loser. The originals will still be up for viewing, but I thought to go back and update some of the mixes with more tracks to further accurately represent the songs recreated with the piano (aside from drums + perc).
ORIGINAL COVER DESC:
The fourth chapter of Conversations with Liam! We are at the mid-way point now, man has time definitely gone fast when we first began in August. I was a lil’ worried how this one would turn out, but gladly the final mix went all well (minor nitpicks on some things aside for myself to keep note for next covers). Not only that, this is the hardest cover emotionally after That’s Hilarious that I’ve had to put out there. Let me explain.
The prior chapter song, Cheating On You was my transition from the prior girl onto the new girl that came into my life in late 2019 after a year passed since the old “situationship” ended in 2018. That song represented how those two narratives interweaved and connected.
When 2019 was about to end, I had a gut feeling in 2020 that things were going to drastically change in my life, it was just a matter of when and how severe it would be for me. Things were already heading downwards beforehand but it all crashed in April. Loser is about the time when I was at my lowest from that month until late August after the rejection and loss of that other new “blissful” romantic interest and friendship. During that period I was alone in my thoughts, in anger at myself, denial and a depressive state of mind, thinking that all hope for my life was utterly lost.
That very same period however was when my eyes finally awakened to reality that I knew I had to correct course by cutting my losses, leaving communities that meant so much to my growth and removing habits that no longer brought me joy. I realised my own priorities weren’t set right and I needed to take care of my health and personal circumstances. As the line says that “it’s gonna take some adjusting”, I had no place to run to but the Lord in dire need of help and it was only then that I regained the strength to stand firm amidst that massive transition period having to cut off a fair lot of people out of my life. Here onwards, the covers will get a lil’ brighter, but putting this cover out there definitely feels like a heavy weight has been finally lifted.
Be on the lookout for lyric changes too (and maybe, subtle easter eggs I put)!
Thank you guys for supporting me all this way, I thank God for each and every one of you and from here up onwards, you’ll see how I healed from this huge change of direction in my life in 2020. 💚🙏🏽
