What If Ned Stark Provisioned Winterfell for Winter With Jon Snow

When Bran Stark falls from the broken tower, Ned Stark refuses King Robert Baratheon's offer to ride south as Hand of the King. He chooses his family and Winterfell over the southern court, and Robert names Stannis instead. Jon Snow never leaves for the Wall. Ned keeps his bastard son at Winterfell so they can face the coming winter together as father and son. What happens across the Seven Kingdoms when Stannis Baratheon takes the Hand's chain in the south, while Ned Stark fortifies his home? Can Ned and Jon unite the proud northern lords, from Greatjon Umber to Roose Bolton? Time is short. Winterfell must repair its glass gardens and stock the smokehouses with salt from Wyman Manderly. And how will Catelyn Stark react when Jon is brought to the high table, given a place among the pack? Ned Stark chooses timber and grain over southern intrigue so his family will survive together. He turns his back on the Iron Throne. Behind the granite walls of Winterfell, the larders are full, and the pack gathers by the hearth as the first snow begins to fall.
