Does an Electric G-Class Even Make Sense? Mercedes G 580 (580 hp) POV Drive

In this POV drive, I’m testing the new all-electric Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ technology - the first electric G-Class. A true G-Class with four electric motors, 580 hp, 1,164 Nm, a 116-kWh battery, and legendary off-road capabilities. But does an electric G-Class even make sense? I’ll take you along on a real POV drive, test the fast charging, show you G-TURN, G-STEERING, the off-road cockpit, the interior, the trunk, and the rear seats, and find out if the electric Mercedes G 580 still feels like a true G-Class. With four individual electric motors, one per wheel, the G580 can offer features that aren’t technically possible in a classic G-Class. Add to that up to 580 hp, 1,164 Nm of torque, 0 to100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, and a usable battery capacity of 116 kWh.
