Vincent - Starry, Starry Night (Don McLean / arr. Chet Atkins)

This video is a sizable departure from my normal YouTube posts, which typically consist of me singing and banging away on my guitar. I got the idea to do this recently when I updated my video editing software. I have always been big fan of van Gogh paintings, so I thought it would be a fun exercise to put together a mini exhibit of some of his canvasses. The accompanying sound track is super guitarist Chet Atkins playing his elegant arrangement of Don McLean's popular song about the artist. Although the track is instrumental, I made an effort to sync the images presented here to the marvelous lyrics from Don's original version of the song. It is worth noting that van Gogh never sold any of the paintings presented here. In point of fact, he only managed to sell a single painting in his lifetime, even though he produced over 800 canvasses. Throughout the execution of this project, I was reminded of a remark Joni Mitchell made relating to her vacillation between music and graphic art, which she regarded as "creative crop rotation". Creating a visual art post was a different experience indeed, but the process was extremely enjoyable and gratifying. I hope you like the end result.
