Kepler and Jesus — Full Audiobook | The Astronomer Who Threw Out a Perfect Circle Over 8 Minutes

Kepler and Jesus — the complete audiobook (unabridged). Regensburg, November 1630. Johannes Kepler has ridden in on an old horse, sick and out of money, to collect back salary the Empire has owed him for years, while the Thirty Years' War burns across Germany. In a rented bed, feverish, the man who discovered that the planets move in ellipses — who spent his life saying he was only "thinking God's thoughts after him" — is visited by someone sitting in the chair beside him. And he tells all of it: the smallpox that ruined his hands and his eyes, the buried children, the eight arcminutes of error in Mars's orbit that broke a 2,000-year-old assumption, the communion his own Lutheran church denied him for a decade, the six years spent defending his mother against a charge of witchcraft, and a calculation he once ran on the Star of Bethlehem itself. The meeting is invented; the facts are not — the childhood smallpox that damaged his eyesight and his hands, the expulsion from his teaching post in Graz for refusing to convert, the years working under Tycho Brahe and inheriting his priceless data, the "war with Mars" that took nearly six years and ended with the discovery of the ellipse, the forty-nine witchcraft charges brought against his mother Katharina, the 128-page legal defense Kepler wrote for her himself, and the fever that killed him in a borrowed room in Regensburg in 1630, still owed more than twelve thousand florins by the Empire he served. 📖 Get "Kepler and Jesus" on Amazon (ebook & paperback): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HCKZCGQ2 📚 All my books on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/stores/author/... ☕ Support the channel: https://ko-fi.com/paulosoler 🎧 Listen to the whole series free on this channel ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Chapters 0:00:00 Preface 0:05:05 The Room in Regensburg 0:08:54 Weil der Stadt 0:12:54 The Scholarship 0:15:57 Tübingen 0:19:07 The Pulpit That Never Came 0:22:05 The Blackboard 0:26:07 Barbara 0:29:15 The Eleven Candidates 0:32:09 Driven Out of Graz 0:35:14 The Cart 0:37:53 Tycho 0:41:36 The Emperor Who Did Not Pay 0:44:29 The Eight Minutes 0:48:27 The Ellipse 0:51:38 The Force from the Sun 0:55:29 The Eye 0:58:50 Sixteen Eleven 1:02:09 The New Star 1:04:42 The Forbidden Table 1:08:39 The Middle of the Road 1:11:23 The Calendar 1:14:21 My Mother in Chains 1:18:01 The Dream 1:21:29 The Instruments 1:25:03 The Golden Vessels 1:29:10 The Music 1:32:24 The Thoughts of God 1:36:02 The Star of Bethlehem 1:39:43 The Foolish Daughter 1:42:53 The Rudolphine Tables 1:45:59 The Six-Cornered Snowflake 1:49:06 Galileo 1:52:12 The Fever 1:55:31 Where I Place My Hope 1:58:56 Conclusion ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
