Receive the Spirit (Acts 2:1-36) | September 27, 2026

Waiting and receiving have a profound impact upon the soul. The biggest moments of our lives involve waiting and receiving. Before she has her newborn child in her arms, every mother has a season of waiting. Before saying “I do,” every married couple waits for the big day to arrive. Waiting and receiving is replicated every Christmas as a powerful reminder that it is in the season of longing our hearts are stirred toward something greater. The Book of Acts begins with waiting. Jesus tells the apostles to wait for the Holy Spirit. Before they go anywhere or do anything, they are supposed to wait. They didn’t know how long they would have to wait, and they didn’t know what to expect when the Holy Spirit arrived. But they knew that their waiting wouldn’t be futile. And in chapter two, the Holy Spirit arrives with POWER. This week we explore what it means to be a Holy Spirit empowered church, and why we should remain expectant that the Holy Spirit will move with power today.
